Day One: Sunday, June 29, 2008

Hi Everyone!
Here's a recap of today's events.
After registration and all of the campers got settled at Lipscomb Hall they returned to the Dan Magill Tennis Complex and watched a demonstration from two of UGA's top players and two-time National Champions Christian Vitulli from Mombasa, Kenya and Jamie Hunt from San Antonio, Texas. The pair demonstrated height and depth on the ball, foot work and proper spin on the ball.
From there, the campers broke into their groups and began to work on drills focusing on forehand and backhand ground strokes.
Just after 5:00, we broke for dinner and ate Papa John's pizza and powerade.
Next the counselors led the campers in some more drills then some fun games to round out the evening. The group walked back to the dorm just ahead of a big thunderstorm (Athens is still in a severe drought so we were glad to see the rain.) Tomorrow campers will be riding in style in the UGA vans.
Have a great evening and Go Dawgs!

Coach Glenn,
Enjoyed meeting you briefly today at check-in. I am Max and Will McDonald's dad. Thanks for all you are doing for all the boys at UGA Tennis Camp. Hope it's a good week for all of you. Read your bio and I can tell you that Max and Will are both big Lord of the Rings fans...especially Max!
Glad you escaped the rain.
Go Dogs and Have fun!
Bill McDonald
